                                      .:CHAPTER 1:.

It had been two years since Link and Midna had parted ways.
Link had gone back to Ordon to help Rusl and the others. The kids had grown, Colin the most. He was now taller than Talo and could swing a sword without any trouble. Talo had given up with swordfighting and had taken up a bow. Malo was still working at the shop in Castle Town. Beth, unlike the others, was living with Renado and at Kakariko village. Link had been teaching fighting to Talo and Colin ever since he came back, both were getting better at an unbelievable speed.

It was a peaceful sunset. Link was sitting at the Ordon spring with Rusl. Just like before he had set to that remarkable adventure.
"Link, It's been two years.." Rusl started. Link looked at him with his curious blue eyes, waiting for him to continue. "Do you.. Do you still miss her?" Link sighed and  looked away. He stared at the sunset for a while before replying: "Yes.. I think I'll miss her 'till I can find a way back to her." Rusl smiled weakly at Link: "Maybe you'll meet again someday?" Link seemed to get a bit of hope in his eyes but said with a sad tone: "The chances are 1 out of 100.. But still.. It's possible I hope." Both were silent and then Rusl remembered something.
"Link, do you know what day it is today?" He asked with a playful tone.
"Uh.. No?" Link replied and looked puzzled. Then his eyes widened and a grin took on his face. "Wait.. It's my birthday!"
"Exactly. You're 19 today. And I" Rusl was searching for something from his pocket "have a present for you." he said and took out a small box with a triforce symbol on it's top.
Link looked at it for a second before opening the box. Inside there was a necklace that was made of a turquoise gem. It was tied to a black string with some familiar looking markings. The markings of the Twili. Link realized whom the necklace was from and asked with a smile on his face: "Wh- wha.. How? Where? When?"
Rusl let out a gentle laugh and began to explain: "I wish I knew exactly myself. I was taking a trip to the desert, you know, Resistance things. I went through the desert and the Arbiters Ground. At the top there was a pedestal with a shattered mirror" at this point Link let out a painful sigh " and that." Rusl pointed at the necklace. "When I picked it up I heard a woman's voice. It said:

A man from Ordon village I presume? You are from His home village. Take this present to Him, for it creates a bond between us. It is an ancient way of communication between the Light and Darkness. So please give it to Him and ask Him to wear it.

Then I heard the wind blow and it was silent again."
Link was looking at the present. It was from her. From Midna. But the Mirror of Twilight was broken. How could she get it to this world? And how is it supposed to be used? "Am I supposed to talk to it or what?" he asked out loud.
All these questions ran through his mind. Finally, Link put the necklace on his neck, thanked Rusl, stood up and walked away.

It was now night. Link was asleep, he had a weird dream.
He was standing in a dark room with his hero clothes on. A flash of red light ran through the room and Link saw the Throne room of Twilight palace. He saw the Twili, short and tall, fat and thin, all different, but for some reason, Link couldn't see their faces. They had formed some sort of a circle. In the middle was another twili. It was a female, twice as tall as the others, bleeding wounds all over the body. Light blue skin looked more like light purple because of the blood, fiery hair flowing, and red eyes burning with anger and frustration, then Link shouted her name.
"MIDNA!!" Link screamed as he saw her. Midna glanced towards the direction of the sound but didn't see anything. Link shouted again and then she realized what or who it was.
"Link? Oh, thank the Goddesses! I need you here NOW! This is no time for chit-chat, take the Master Sword with you and go to the mirror as fast as you can!" Midna shouted to the emptiness. Link nodded and closed his eyes. It was silent for a while. Then he heard a woman screaming and he woke up.

His bed was covered in sweat, but he didn't really care. Link jumped out of the bed and opened his closet. The hero's clothes were just as he had left them. He took off his pajamas and put on the hero's clothing as fast as he could, ran to the ladder and went downstairs. He walked towards a small box that was on his coffee table, inside was a key. Link took it and ran back upstairs. He crawled under his bed and took out a purple chest with a golden Triforce symbol. He pushed the key to a lock that was shaped like the Zora's sapphire. Inside was the master sword, shining upon it's rightful owner.
Link took it out and ran out.
He went to the Ordon shop, opened the door without a single noise and took some potion. Since he was a good man he left some money for the potion. Link ran back to his house, saddled Epona and rode to Hyrule field and all the way through there to Lake Hylia. There was no other way to get down to the actual lake but to jump from the bridge. He opened Epona's Saddle bag and inside was the Zora armor. Link put it on and jumped. He fell all the way to the bottom and then swam back to the surface.

Link went to the cannon, but was stopped by a clown. Link lied that he was on a mission for Princess Zelda, so he got in and was blown all the way to the Mirror of Twilight.

Once there the Hero stopped. He looked at the mirror, puzzled. It was no more in pieces. It was full, just as it was before Midna broke it. Link activated the portal and went in.

The hero of Hyrule opened his eyes and saw the Twilight realm. The yellow light was shining everywhere, oh, how much he had missed this. But there was one odd thing. It was empty. Nobody was there. Then he remembered Midna and ran all the way to the door of the Throne room. There he was stopped. Two twili were blocking his way. They looked pretty much like earlier, but their faces were different. The twili's eyes were red and they were.. bleeding.. Their mouths were also producing blood. Link looked shocked but he pushed the two out of the way and bashed through the door. Inside, he saw Midna just like in the dream. This time the Twilight Princess had a major sized wound in her stomach, and if not healed quickly, it could be lethal. Fury hit Link as he ran through slashing the Twili out of the way.
"No! Link! Don't hurt them!" Midna screamed and gasped in pain, "We just have to keep them away!" Link nodded and ran next to Midna. Another Twili slashed the two, Link did the move to guard with his shield when he realized that he hadn't taken it with him. With no protection the Twili scratched Link's left arm and left a bad injury. Link screamed in pain as Midna started to look worse. Her skin turned even paler and her eyes were shaking."Shit.." She whispered. Midna's whole body was shaking as she fell on the floor, coughing out blood. Link looked at her with a shocked look on his face. He was unable to move. Link had a small memory of Midna saying "You know Link, we Twili actually have poison in our bodies. But just a little. And we can't harm others with it. Only the Twili can poison other Twili." Something had to be done, the poison was clearly spreading in Midna's body. She was going to die.
Link went closer to Midna and guarded the many hits of the Twili.
Then he heard a voice. It was a girl's voice. Link saw an about twelve years old girl with blood-red hair and chocolate brown skin. The girl was a gerudo, no doubt. But they were supposed to be gone. Ganondorf too.. So who was this? Link didn't have to think about that for too long until the girl laughed again:
"Ohohohoo! I'm the mighty daughter of the leader of Hyrule, Ganondorf! My name is Naraa! I'm here to avenge for my father!"
Link looked at her with a slightly amused face, since the girl's voice was ridiculously high. Now the Twili took his attention completely. Link's wounds were bleeding too much. He wouldn't make it. The twili got closer and closer. At last, the whole bunch jumped on the two of them, making sure they were dead.

Link was thinking.
"Well, this is it. You're going to die. Midna too- there are so many things I would like to tell her." Link tried to speak, but he couldn't speak. Link felt broken. He would never see anybody again. Ilia, Rusl, the kids, Zelda... Everything was lost. "Some hero you are, losing to a bunch of crap. Come on! Get up!" Link opened his eyes and looked at the woman who was in terrible pain and was holding her stomach. No.. she can't die.. She is why I'm here.. I'm supposed to save her! I...WON'T...LOSE!!!

The Triforce in Link's hand started to glow. He slowly begun to get up, but the small Twili were surprisingly heavy. He tried harder and harder, and finally he was able to push his way up. Link shot a furious glance at Naara and lifted his sword. A loud scream broke the silence as Link charged towards the Gerudo girl. Naara spinned her hands around a bit, creating a small shadow ball and threw it at Link, with no effect. Sure, it hit him, but it did no damage. He didn't even flinch. Link jumped at the girl and was able to give Naara a nice blow to the leg. She let out a screech and clutched her leg.
"She's.. still.. a child. It's not.. worth it.." A weak whisper came from the back of the room. Midna was shakingly standing, supporting herself on a pillar.
Link nodded, but turned to look at Naara again. He went closer.. and closer.. And suddenly his nose hurt like hell.
"Take that, you.. you.. Loser!" Naara screamed looking satisfied at the blow she'd got in and disappeared in a cloud of ruby smoke. The smoke filled the room quickly and both Link and Midna went unconscious.

Link woke up 4 hours later in the Throne room. The Twili were still fainted but they looked normal now. He looked at Midna and inhaled sharply as he saw the injury in her stomach. Link's muscles were still weak from the battle, and his nose was still sore, but he stood up and took Midna again to his arms.
Link walked out of the palace and to the mirror of Twilight.
He went through and appeared to the Arbiters Ground.
Link didn't have the slightest idea of how to get out of there, but his feet kept on walking. They went through the Arbiter's grounds, with a lot of trouble. They got out, but Link didn't make it even to the middle of the desert. He fell on the hot sand and felt something round hit his back. It was the potion. But there was only for one. If he would give it to Midna, she could warp them to their destination, but because of her injury, her health would lower back to it's current state in at least few seconds. Link thought about this, and gave Midna the potion. The princess sat up and groaned.
"Midna.. We don't have enough time to talk now, you'll faint again really soon, you must warp us back to Ordon village. Can you do that?" Link asked desperately.
"Y-yeah.. I guess.." She whispered, her voice sounded coarse and dry, but she still tried to speak. She lifted her arm to form a portal. The portal was weak, but it would work.
They went in and appeared in the middle of the Ordon village. The warp had taken more powers than expected and Midna fell to the ground again almost instantly.
Link started to shout for help, everyone woke up pretty slowly, since it was still the middle of the night. All Link saw before fainting was Rusl running at them, then it was all black.

Link woke up in a bed at his own house. Sun was shining through the window. He gasped and sat up. Rusl was next to him and Link asked instantly:
"Where's Midna?"
"The girl? She's safe at our house" Rusl answered. "Her injuries were pretty serious, if you wouldn't have shouted for help, she would've died. You're too brave for your body Link, it can't take all this." he continued.
"I couldn't care less. Please help me up and I'll go see her." Link said. Rusl helped him up and they walked to Rusl's house. Midna was in a bed, finishing her fish soup. She put the cup on a small brown table and yawned. Rusl left and closed the door behind him. Midna noticed Link and grinned. Link walked at her and sat on a chair next to her.
"Well, well.. If it isn't my own precious hero doing his business once again. I already thought I wouldn't make it." She said and hugged Link. She buried her head to his shoulder and kept a tight grip on her hero.
Link smiled softly at her and kissed her on the forehead.
"Of course I'd come, how could I not. I love you" The last part came out as merely a whisper.
Midna seemed shocked and looked at Link's face.
"B-but I thought that you and Zelda-" she started but was cut off by Link.
"Midna, Zelda is my friend. There is nothing like that between us, or well, I might have had a crush on her when I was little..." Link explained.
Midna giggled and hugged Link even tighter. They talked about their lives when separate and realized more and more how much they had missed each other. Later, when Midna could walk, Link took her to the Ordon spring.
"Oh Link.. It's so beautiful in here.." She said and smiled beautifully. Link smiled too and took out his birthday present.
Midna looked at it and smiled.
"Do you like it?" she asked.
"Of course I do." Link answered.
"I sent it just before my people attacked me." Midna said while Link asked: "How did you send it? The mirror was broken."
"That's simple, the Twilian accessories, weapons and clothes can be transferred through any piece of the mirror. Only people can't." Midna said.
They were at the Ordon spring all day talking about everything. But something was not right, and they both were unaware of the gathering evil behind their backs.
